Senior Cup 2008: Results

The Irish Senior Cup took place on the 17th of April to the 19th of April and the team found themselves in yet another tough group.Dispite how tough the group was we were optimistic that we could progress into the semi-finals.We had Guinness(Who would go on to be eventual runners up in the competition) in our first game and dispite what was an excellent performance we were beaten by a goal.It was unfortunate that we didn't get at least a draw which we fully deserved but it simply wasn't to be.In our next game we played the recently crowned league champions Cathal Brugha. However after our 1st game and Brugha's sloppy performance in their 1st game we were optimistic. The game was tight throughout except in the 3rd period whe Brugha opened a 5 goal lead but we managed to pull it back to 2 goals and eventually lost by 3.Dispite losing one of our key players Stevie Nolan in the 2nd period due to 3 personal fouls we put in another excellent performance.Losing to Brugha meant we were out but we still had 1 game left to play against Corrib who were also out.We were determined to beat Corrib as we felt that we deserved a win after the way we played in the first 2 matches.Once again the team stood strong and beat Corrib quite convincingly in the end, which was nothing more than we deserved. Guinness went on to beat St. Vincent's in the semis while Cathal Brugha were beaten by Half Moon in a repeat of last years final.Half Moon went on to beat Guinness in the final by a small margin. Well done to our lads on a great tournement and lets hope we can improve on our performance next season.

Division 1 Play-Offs: Results

With the team only needing 1 point to avoid relegation this year, the play-offs looked positive. We played Clonard on Saturday and put in a very convincing profomance and came away with a very good 11-3 win.In our next game we played Corrib whom we beat 11-7.It was again a good team proformance and dispite a minor slip up in the 3rd quarter we came away with a good win which will give us a boost going into the game against them at the Senior Cup.With our safety and 5th place secured we went into the game against Clontarf looking for a win despite the fact that it would have only been a morale booster for the Senior Cup.In a game which we started well we made a number of elimentary mistakes and ended up on the end of our only defeat of the weekend, losing by 3 goals. Overall it was a very good weekend for the team and a great morale booster for the Senior Cup which sees us in a tough group.Congratulations to the team on staying up and the best of luck in the up coming Senior Cup in Limerick
